About: What is Homeopathy? Homeopathy is a holistic system of medicine whereby the totality of symptoms – whether they are physical, emotional or mental – is ‘matched’ with the totality of symptoms of the required homeopathic medicine. It is the principle of treating ‘like with like’ and in this way, homeopathy treats the individual as a whole person. What can Homeopathy treat? Homeopathic medicine can effectively treat a wide range of conditions –Acute Complaints such as colds, coughs, stomach upsets and Chronic complaints such as asthma, hay fever, headaches, sleeplessness, fatigue, skin conditions, urinary and menstrual problems. There are many chronic symptoms that can be helped by homeopathic medicine. Homeopathic treatment can also be very effective for emotional and mental problems such as - depression, anxiety, panic attacks, insomnia, deep-seated grief and anger, poor concentration and memory. In treating these conditions, I spend a lot of time in understanding in depth, the nature of the symptoms experienced. As with the treatment of all conditions, the homeopathic prescription is then individualized to the symptoms experienced. The homeopathic prescription is a prescription for you, not a prescription just for the diagnosis of your condition. Homeopathy and children I treat many children in my practice. Homeopathy is very effective in the treatment of many childhood illnesses and complaints. The childhood conditions I commonly treat include asthma, eczema and hay fever; recurrent colds, coughs, ear aches and upset stomach; bed-wetting; nightmares and poor sleep; behavioural and learning difficulties. What changes can I expect? Following successful homeopathic treatment, there is a definite and lasting improvement in presenting symptoms. If there is a predisposition to hay fever or recurrent infection for instance, there is a significant improvement in the susceptibility to these conditions. People who have benefited from homeopathic treatment also report increased vitality and describe a feeling of enhanced well-being – "feeling better within myself". Ψ |
